Researchers from the Technology Center Prague have developed an analysis of technological developments in the field of decarbonization as part of the SEEPIA project.
Decarbonization, i.e. the process of reducing carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, is a key element of climate policy in the Czech Republic and the European Union. The goal of decarbonization is the transition to a low-carbon economy, which includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the share of renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency. Given that climate change represents one of the greatest challenges of our time, it is essential that states and supranational organizations take effective measures to protect the environment and human health. This document focuses on the legislative and regulatory frameworks, specific steps and technologies to achieve these goals in both the EU and the Czech Republic. The analysis of technological developments in the field of decarbonization provides a robust basis for creating scenarios for future energy development.
