Evaluation of the decarbonization investment gap: WACC as a key decision criterion for the implementation/non-implementation of decarbonization investments (electricity generation)

A team of scientists from the SEEPIA project has concluded a study evaluating the decarbonization investment gap. The study presents the results of the WACC calculation and identifies the factors that significantly influence it.

WACC (weighted average cost of capital) is a key parameter in assessing the riskiness and return of proposed investments. WACC is thus a key decision criterion for the implementation/non-implementation of decarbonization investments and affects the size of the decarbonization investment gap in the Czech Republic. The output consists of two studies. The first presents an analysis of the weighted average cost of capital for renewable energy sources (RES), the second is a follow-up study for nuclear sources.
