Benefits and weaknesses of voluntary instruments for environmental protection
An overview of voluntary environmental protection instruments in the Czech Republic together with a presentation of their potential benefits and possible criticisms or weaknesses is presented in a report prepared by researchers from the Czech Environmental Information Agency (CENIA).
The report defines what voluntary environmental instruments are and describes voluntary instruments supported by the Ministry of the Environment: Local Agenda 21 (MA21), Ecolabelling, Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), EMAS (Eco Management and Audit Scheme). This output will be used as basis for the preparation of a methodology for assessing the benefits of projects in the field of voluntary instruments.
A quantitative assessment of the benefits of voluntary instruments is available (only in Czech) here.
